Purchase a Home

Financial Freedom comes from having cash flow to do what you want, when you want. Owning a home is one of the surest ways to build wealth. You may want to consider using your BAH to invest in yourself through home-ownership. Both officers and enlisted personnel have used this approach to reduce their tax burden, provide a house for their family, increase their net worth and choose where they would like to live rather than being told "where to live".

STEP 2) Print and complete the request for certificate of Eligbility VA Form 1880

STEP 3) Complete the online pre-qualification form.

Military Housing at Fort Bliss is provided by GMH Military Housing who is responsible for construction, renovation, and maintenance of family homes. If you are assigned a home on post, you will need to sign a lease with GMH and pay a pro-rated rent for the month you move in. Fort Bliss has over 3,000 family units available with 400 for E1-E3, 1600 for E4-E6, and 300 for E7-E9. Other grade officers are assigned to the remaining units. If looking for accommodations off-base such as homes for sale or rent, contact Military Housing before signing any lease agreement. The housing office will offer guidance on BAH rates and how they will apply for any housing that is available for sale or rent. Apartment complexes offer a variety of options depending on the number of bedrooms desired.

Accommodations for single personnel are available for those with a rank of E-7 or above. Unaccompanied bachelors will be given first priority as bachelor officer and enlisted quarters are limited. The housing office will provide the basis housing allowance allotment to all unaccompanied personnel. Those personnel seeking off-post housing need to check in with the housing office prior to committing to any lease or purchase. The housing office will have a list or requirements for specific ranks and can help with security deposit waivers and some utility costs that may be covered by the BAH.
